Forbes Magazine Features #21toWatch Campaign and Awards
We are enormously proud that Forbes magazine has chosen to cover our #21toWatch campaign and awards. And equally delighted that they have name-checked some of our fabulous Top21.2022 #tech winners in an article too!
Forbes writer, Trevor Clawson spoke to our Faye about why she created #21toWatch and why startups often need a helping hand to raise their profiles – and makes the very valid point that, even if you start a business in an established hub, it won’t necessarily be easy to raise finance. In fact, if you’re in a location like the Cambridge Cluster, which plays host to a thousand plus startups and scaleups, it might actually be more difficult to secure funding because of the competition.
And that’s where #21toWatch comes in – because it puts you on the radar of financiers, mentors and customers.
As Faye told Forbes: “Investors know a few of the companies operating in Cambridge but they don’t know all of them. We act as a connector. Even just being on the longlist has helped people get in front of investors and buyers. Tiny entrepreneurial companies get exposure, and they also get connections to the ecosystem.”
To date, #21toWatch has showcased close to 1,000 companies and of those who featured in the top 21 slots, 47 percent have gained funding. The winners can also expect material benefits as sponsors and partners offer an assortment of useful prizes including a free comms clinics, office space or free banking.
Taking part in Awards like #21toWatch provides a chance to connect with a bigger community. And, even in well-established hubs like Cambridge, that can be important!
